Cabins and Camping
All of the cabins and bothies are thoughtfully designed and built using sustainable practices, relying almost entirely on materials sourced in Connemara.
Inspired by the Norwegian DNT model, Connemara National Park offers a network of simple cabins set thoughtfully across the landscape. Most are self-service, providing shelter, bunks and a stove — places to rest, dry out and share stories at day’s end. A small number are hosted, where walkers can find a warm welcome, a homemade meal prepared with local ingredients, or even freshly baked cinnamon buns. For those who prefer something more elemental, basic bothies offer little more than four walls and a roof — and all the atmosphere that comes with it.
Camping follows the same spirit of trust and freedom. Outside of a few sensible restrictions near homes and sensitive habitats, visitors are welcome to pitch a tent and settle quietly into the wild. The emphasis is on responsibility and respect: travel lightly, leave no trace, and allow others — human and wild alike — to experience the same sense of solitude.
